Virgo is the sign for practical service, and persons with an emphasis on this sign in
their horoscope will often become laborious workers. Some people are good and kind and have great visions, but are at the same time totally inefficient in their daily life and
can’t put their dreams into effect. An ineffective idealist who doesn’t know how to help
others is of little use to humanity.

Virgo is the sign in which one learns practicality and the significance of practical service.
Your soul probably learned idealism in previous lifetimes under the polar opposite sign,
Pisces, and it is now time to practice these ideals in daily life. You must learn to manifest your ideas. At first this makes the selfish Virgo who uses matter for purely selfish purposes.

The next step is to lift up this capacity to a higher level, you learn to be practical but on the same time unselfish and to help other people. You remember vaguely in your subconsciousness the selfish deeds you done and the hurt it inflicted upon other people. This gives you a sense of guilt. First you learn to be practical so you can fulfill your own desires; then, a slowly emerging sense of duty teaches you to use this capacity in practical service; and finally, you learn to give service motivated by love. If you are a mature soul your lesson in Virgo is to give service based on love and not on duty or feelings of guilt.

The basic and most elementary form of service is duty. Through duty you sacrifice yourself for a higher cause. You learn to work without receiving praise, to do what you are told to do and to follow the laws, rules and regulations. Duty is based on obedience to a higher authority, and is often accompanied by guilt, bad conscience and/or a feeling of shame and punishment.

Often it carries with it the sense of having done something wrong. All these turbulent thoughts wrestle with each other in your subconscious and give you no rest. In the end you will only annihilate yourself. The transfiguration of service from duty and a sense of guilt to service based on love -- this is the goal for most people in the sign of Virgo.

A spiritually-oriented Virgo tries to eliminate any hindrance for her own or her group’s
spiritual growth. It often happens, however, that instead of eliminating the hindrances on your path you allow yourself to be irritated by them, giving them undue attention -- but in doing so you give energy to these negative aspects. You fertilize and nourish that which irritates you in such a way that the negative increases instead of being eliminated. When you focus your thoughts on the negative instead of getting rid of it, you produce an effect in opposition to your wishes. By focusing your attention on the positive and you will eliminate the undesired by no longer providing it with a source of energy. Anxiety, anguish and criticism often become a scourge for Virgo. Remember that it is the light of the soul that shall guide you in your actions.

Your task in life is to develop loving, practical service. When you have practiced the law of love for quite a long time you and the environment around you will be transformed. It is the birth of what is sometimes called the Christ-child, which is the long-term goal most of us are striving to achieve.
